1. Professional Newsletter
This publication is mailed to DTS members. The Newsletter brings readers up-to-date on association happenings, news of colleagues, conferences, meetings, new publications and other announcements.

2. Professional Development
The body of scientific knowledge is constantly growing and changing, as is our understanding of how to teach it. DTS can help you be aware of and understand these changes and their relevance to your teaching-learning environment.

3. Annual Meetings
The DTS state meetings attract and serve the science teachers of Delaware. The programs include major addresses by notable science educators, panel discussions, workshops and field trips.

4. National Association Activities
You will find convenient opportunities for personal involvement through your National Association, the National Science Teachers Association.

5. Continuing Education Program
DTS and the Department of Public Instruction sponsor short courses to help expand your professional knowledge. Courses are given for credit.

6. Calendar of Events
List all of the science events going on in Delaware and national events of interest to Delawareans.

You can make your voice heard....at the state and local level. The Association strives to articulate and preserve the interests and integrity of science education....and every member makes our voice that much stronger.

You can serve on working committees, participate in selecting and electing officers, seek office yourself. You may be invited to put on workshops and panel discussions. DTS offers many opportunities to gain valuable professional leadership experience.

As a member, you will have the right to vote for local officers. This is important to you because it gives you a voice in selecting the leaders who will guide the direction and scope of DTS activities.

10. Service Awards
DTS and NSTA present awards designed to recognize accomplishments, original science teaching techniques, and innovations in science education. As a member, you are eligible for consideration and you may submit nominations to your Association.

There's something about getting together with fellow professionals - away from the working day environment - that's both refreshing and rewarding. It's easier to think creatively and exchange ideas on common problems and objectives.
